Things to note for Indians in USA

- When you are in "line" call it line (where is the line?, are you in line?) and not queue

- When you want to go upstairs, look for "elevator" and not lift

- When you want to erase what you wrote using a pencil, call it "eraser" and not "rubber". Sometimes they call condom a rubber ;-)

- giving a check for 34.23 dollars, you write "thirty four 23/100" instead of "thirty four dollars twenty three cents"

Freedom Fighter Late Shri Keshav Chandra Saha

Late Shri Keshav Chandra Saha (1915-1995) was a great freedom fighter, educationalist, Social worker and poet from eastern part of Chhattisgath(then a part of Madhyapradesh). He was born in the bordering village of Bade Nawapara in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. Leading the Gandhian movements in the area he played an important role in 1942 freedom struggle. As among very few freedom fighters in the district he spread the message and movements started by Gandhiji.
As a Gauntiya (head of the villeage) of Bada Nuapada(Bade Nawapara) he solely constructed more than 30 temples in the village. This in itself is a record of the region. Among them the "Shiv Mandir" is notably beautiful for it's architecture.
He was also a great believer in water harvesting and nurturing farmers. He lead to dig 7 ponds in the village way back decades ago.
A great promoter of education, he started the first school in any rural village of Raigarh district in 1948. People say when there was no government aid was given to the school he himself paid salaries to all the teachers and ran hostels(in 1951) on his own. Being an ardent Gandhian, he was very modest to not take credit and named the school in the name of Mahatma Gandhi(Amar Bapu Saniwas Vidyalaya). There are thousand of people who studies there and are in big government posts or doing good in politics.
Late Mr. Saha's literature(Gandhi Chautisa, Bharat Samgam,Alhadini Shakti,bhakt ra janana to be named few) have been recognized by one and all.
After independence when royal families were still ruling the governments by pseudo democracy, Mr. Saha was the first to stand
in the elections(twice in 1956 and 1967) against then Raja of Sarangarh and former CM of Madhyapradesh Raja Naresh Chandra. He always instilled the value of democracy into the common people and so many local leaders stood up to fight against pseudo democracy in the region.
To honor this great son of soil, Chhattisgarh government has started a project "Keshav Kunj Jalashaya Yojna" in his name.

Why do I support Team Anna?

मैं एक आम आदमी हूँ। बचपन से ही मैं राजनीति को दूर से देखता आ रहा हूँ।  राजनीति मुझे बचपन से ही एक व्यापार की तरह लगी है। लोगो को मैंने देखा राजनीति के लिए बहुत मेहनत करते, अपने खून पसीने की कमाई को किसी गैर के हाथो में न देकर अपने बच्चो को सौपते। शायद ये सब इतना सहज लगा मुझे की मेरे अन्दर के किसी मन में ये बैठ चूका है की राजनीति एक व्यापार है, यहाँ बहुत मेहनत है और यहाँ पे प्रतिश्पर्धा बहुत है।

ये सब देखते देखते मुझे पता चला की राजनीति के कुछ पुराने नारे हैं. जैसे की गरीबी मिटाना, अपराध कम करना, सरकार को महंगाई पे कोसना, भ्रष्टाचार के लिए गाली देना। जब मैंने धीरे धीरे बड़ा हुआ तो कुछ नए नारे सुनाई दिये। ये सब नारे सड़को पर या मोहल्ले में पोस्टरों पर तो नहीं देखते लेकिन चूँकि टीवी चैनलों का बहुत महत्व बढ़ गया इसीलिए नारे जैसे की आर्थिक विफलता, विदेश नीति , आतंरिक सुरक्षा इत्यादि भी शामिल हो गए। ये सब नारे पहले नए लगे लेकिन समय बीतने के साथ ये सब भी उन्ही पुराने नारों में शामिल हो गए।
इतने दिनों में ये बात तो समझ में आ गयी थी कि नेता लोगो की बहुत कमाई है लेकिन चूँकि मेरे अंतर्मन ने ये स्वीकार कर लिया था की ये तो एक व्यापार है, मुझे इसमें ऐसी कोई आपत्ति नहीं थी। कभी कभी घोटाले सामने आते थे जैसे की बोफोर्स घोटाला , हवाला काण्ड, सैन्य सामानों में गड़बड़ी ... लेकिन ये सब मुझे उस व्यापार का एक हिस्सा लगते थे।
 जब  मैं और बड़ा हुआ तो बड़े बड़े आकडे सामने आये। समाचारों को सुनते हुए लगता था की ये लोग अपनी आदत के हिसाब से बढ़ा चढ़ाकर बता रहे होंगे। इतना ज्यादा पैसा कोई कैसे खा सकता है? मैं जब कामनवेल्थ में आंकड़े का सुना तो मुझे बहुत ही गुस्सा आया। क्या एक फ्रीज़ को कोई इतने दामो में खरीद सकता है? बाकि लोग क्या कर रहे थे जब ये डील हुयी? मुझे लगा अब जबकि ये बात आ ही गयी है तो जो भी लोग हैं उनकी तो वाट लग जाएगी। मैं रोज टीवी देखता रहता। धीरे धीरे कर के बात ख़तम होती जा रही थी। मैंने सोचा कुछ करना चाहिए। लेकिन क्या कर सकता था? शायद मैंने जो सोचा वही कुछ और समाज सेवियों ने भी सोचा और इसीलिए मैं उनका समर्थन करता हूँ।
देखते देखते ये एक बड़ा आन्दोलन बन गया। मैं सोचा इस मुहीम को कमजोर पड़ने नहीं देना चाहिए नहीं तो हम आम लोग फिर से वही कामनवेल्थ के बाद वाले नकारात्मक मूड में चले जायेंगे। इस आन्दोलन को जिद्दी होना चाहिए। वही आन्दोलन के नेतृत्व करने वाले लोगो ने सोचा। 

जिद्द का एक नतीजा निकला।  सरकार जो बहुत ही ज्यादा अभिमान में जी रही थी, थोड़ी झुकी। मुझे लगा की अब सरकार को थोडा समय देना चाहिए। टाइम तो लगता है। अन्ना के लोगो को भी वही लगा।

सारी पार्टियाँ एक हो गयी। सब मुझे साफ़ साफ़ दिख रहा था। सब ने संसद में आम जनता का और लोकपाल का खूब मजाक बनाया। टीवी पर लोकसभा पे चर्चा देखते हुए लगा की "कुछ नहीं हो सकता". मैंने सोचा सब पार्टी एक ही समान हैं किसी को चिंता नहीं है। सब आन्दोलन को टालना चाहते हैं। अन्ना के लोगो ने भी यही सोचा।  

बहुत दिनों तक इसपे बात नहीं हुयी। इस कमिटी से उस कमिटी में भेजी जाती रही। मुझे लगा बात को कमजोर किया जा रहा है। टीम अन्ना को भी यही लगा। मुझे लगा नेतृत्व करने वाले लोगो को जबरदस्ती बदनाम किया जा रहा है। लोकपाल के अलवा बाकि सब बातो पे उनको घसीटा जा रहा है। फिर से आन्दोलन करना चाहिए। टीम को भी यही लगा।
मेरे दिमाग में सवाल आया की जिन लोगो के खिलाफ ये लोकपाल बयाना जा रहा है वही लोग कैसे इसे मजबूत बनायेंगे? दबाव दाल के भी इनसे कुछ नहीं कराया जा सकता। क्योकि ये लोग दबाव कम होने का इंतज़ार करते हैं। चुप रहते हैं। टीम अन्ना को भी यही लगा।
फिर मुझे न चाहते हुए भी लगा की शायद इनको उन्ही के तरीके में जवाब देना चाहिए। वही एक उपाय बचता है। वोट के अलावा और कोई उपाय नहीं दिखता . आज नहीं तो कल।  नहीं तो आन्दोलन करने वाले बेचारो के जैसे करते रहेंगे. कभी भीड़ आई कभी नहीं आई में बहस करते रहेंगे और लोकपाल बनाने वाले संसद में फूहड़ बाते करते रहेंगे। टीम ने भी अभी यही सोचा है।

सारी बाते मेरे मन में भी आई जब वो टीम अन्ना के मन में आई। इसीलिए मैं उनका समर्थन करता हूँ।
